Although the result seemed pretty lopsided at 6-2 and 6-4, it took 1:48 hours for Draper to convert his first match point. In the first set, Draper had quickly taken the lead with a break, conceded a re-break, but followed this up with two more breaks to win the set.
In the second set, Draper again quickly took the lead with a break, but Musetti was able to level the score at 4-4. Practically in return, Draper regained the game lead and took a 5-4 lead. After a medical time-out by the Briton, Draper served out a safe win.
After the match, Draper gave the all-clear for his medical treatment: “I'm ok, it's just been a long season. I couldn't play at all last week, but I'm trying to do my best here.” Accordingly, Draper was happy that the match was over after two sets: “Respect to Lorenzo, he played great, but then luckily gave me a few free points. The crowd here is so great, it just makes you feel good.”
